DIGIBIO project (ID:101060066) strives to enhance bio-sustainability by integrating digitalization into data management and automatisation of laboratory processes. The Estonian Centre of Biosustainability that comprises of University of Tartu (UT, Estonia) and Tallinn University of Technology will be establishing Estonian Biofoundry. The consortium has also a third member: Danish Technical University which provides knowledge transfer from their biofoundry from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Biosustainability.
As a result of the project, TalTech will have its state-of-art biofoundry for enzyme development and strain engineering. The core of the automated laboratory will be state-of the art liquid handling robot, colony picker and a microplate shaker-incubator.
The project is has received 15 million € from European Commission and 15 million € from Estonian government.
Duration of the project is September 2023 – August 2029.
